Canada is one of the largest countries in the world, but it is one of the least densely populated. It’s home to some of the most dramatic, awe-inspiring natural landscapes in the world. Canada’s natural parks, shoreline, and mountains offer some of the best hiking paths in the world.

 

British Columbia is famous for its mountains and mild climate. It’s home to some of the most beautiful hiking trails in the country, including the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island. This hike offers great views of beaches, pine trees, and more. This trail has a great story behind it, too. It was founded to help shipwrecked sailors find their way to safety.

 

Whistler, BC, sits north of Vancouver and is famous for its ski culture. Whistler Mountain trails make a great hike during the off-season for skiing. There are several trails to choose from, including the High Note Trail. This hike goes from the top of Whistler Mountain through a series of mountain meadows. It also offers incredible views.

 

Fundy National Park is home to some of the most dramatic tide shifts in the world. Located in New Brunswick, there are plenty of great sights to see here. The park also includes over twenty hiking trails. Hiking Fundy National Park is a great way to spend a day, and the trails offer some incredible scenery.

 

Across the country in Newfoundland, there are also plenty of great hiking trails. These include Gros Morne National Park. This is the meeting place for two continental plates. The views here can be incredibly dramatic. This is a UNESCO World Heritage site. A bonus is that the terrain is mostly flat to rolling, with only one steep hill.

 

Finally, Central Canada is not without its charms, either. In fact, some of the longest trails in North America start in Ontario and Quebec. Quebec is home to an extension of the US’s famed Appalachian Trail. It follows the Appalachians from Maine through to the Parc National de la GaspĂ©sie all the way to the coast of the GaspĂ© Peninsula.

 

Ontario is home to the Bruce Peninsula National Park. Here, adventurous hikers can pick up a 750km trail that will take them all the way to Niagara Falls. This trail is easy to walk.
